I had my first-time-on-a-boat-along-the-Seine moment and it was perfectly magical! My voyage happened on a warm evening and a backdrop of sparkling Eiffel Tower - what could possibly make the night better!
There are quite a few options to choose from when it comes to floating down through the heart of Paris. Tourists often hop on those huge tourist-y boats with speakers blasting information on the changing monuments on land. The fanciest venue to go for would be a restaurant surmounted on a boat - having a 7-course dinner over a period of 2 hours must surely be worth the exorbitant prices.
My personal experience featured no expensive cutlery, though - I hopped on a private boat rented out for the occasion to party hosts. Some friends had dragged me to an ERASMUS event which generally makes for a night out you would not want to miss. Our meeting point operates as a nightclub on water once a month!
The boat runs all the way up to Île de la Cité and gets back to the 16th arrondissement 2 hours later where it stays anchored until the next morning. A highlight of our cruise was the Eiffel Tower whose glittering lights fired up 3 times - every round hour for 5 minutes after sunset. Talk about magic!
Needless to say, we stayed up till dawn. For those of you wondering where to grab food at 4am - head to Pizza Pino, it will also give you the chance to polish up on your Italian!
